What Is Rare Pick Unlimited?

Rare Pick Unlimited is an independent rare-answer trivia game by Midi Crossword. You get five prompts per round and type one answer to each. A correct answer earns between 1 and 100 points according to its estimated familiarity in public reference data. Incorrect answers and answers already used in that round score zero. The maximum round total is 500.

The general rare-answer format is the connection to Krillion, not a shared question bank or an official relationship. Our prompts are independently written, and the accepted answers are compiled separately from public data. There is no account or daily cap. Unlimited means you can keep starting rounds from our 62-prompt bank; it does not mean every question is new forever. Prompts may return in later rounds.

How to Play

If you came looking for krillion unlimited rounds, note that Rare Pick uses its own rules: five original prompts per round and one answer for each.

Read the Prompt

Check both the question and its scope. A prompt may specify a reference list, a region or a spelling condition. That boundary matters: an answer can be a real fact yet fall outside this particular question. Each round contains five different prompts, although their accepted answers may overlap.

Type Any Correct Answer

Enter one answer and submit it. Capitalization, accents and punctuation are ignored, and documented aliases are accepted. For longer names, a small spelling error can produce a confirmation question. Select the intended suggestion before continuing; a suggestion is not a point award. If you do not know an answer, use Skip to take zero and move on.

Rarer Answers Score Higher

The accepted answer's precomputed score is added to your total. Reusing an entity later in the same round earns zero, even through a different alias. You can use it again in a new round. After five submissions, the results show your answer and points for every prompt.

Share & Play Again

Copy a plain-text score summary without revealing your answers. Then choose Play again for another random set. Round progress and completed statistics are stored in this browser, not in an account. Reloading resumes saved progress when browser storage is available; a finished round is not counted twice.

How Rarity Scoring Works

Our score is a public-data estimate of familiarity, not the percentage of players who chose an answer. The source snapshot and calculation are documented below. Familiarity values are transformed and normalized within each prompt, with less familiar answers earning higher scores. Two answers with the same source value receive the same score. Points are fixed for this dataset version, not recalculated while you play.

Here is a real example from the published bank: Name a UN member country located in Europe. In this snapshot, United Kingdom earns 1 points and Kingdom of Denmark earns 100 points. These are the same values the game uses, not illustrative numbers invented for the article.

Reference popularity is imperfect: news, English-language coverage and shared names can affect it. A missing measurement is not silently treated as zero popularity. The result screen shows up to three accepted answers with strictly higher scores than yours when such answers exist. If you already chose a highest-scoring answer, there may be no rarer example to show.

Tips to Find Rarer Answers

  • Pause before your first association. Write down the obvious answer mentally, then consider another valid member of the same set.
  • Use knowledge you can verify. A less famous name is only useful when it satisfies every part of the prompt. Obscurity alone earns nothing.
  • Read the scope carefully. The reference date and category limits can exclude a name you remember from a different period or context.
  • Watch for overlapping answers. Keep track of entities you already used during the round; a spelling variant does not avoid the duplicate rule.
  • Check suggestions before confirming. Spelling tolerance helps with a minor typo, but the suggested entity must be the one you intended.
  • Use the result examples to learn. A later round may revisit a category. There is no need to rush into another round before reading the accepted alternatives.

Original prompts use bounded, saved Wikidata queries (CC0), not competitor data. Familiarity is the actual 2026-09 English Wikipedia user pageview count, all access methods, measured by Wikimedia Analytics (CC0). This is an attention proxy, not a survey of what players know; redirects, news and English-language audience bias can affect it. Missing measurements are excluded, never assumed zero. Within each prompt, distinct view counts are sorted from least to most viewed; score = 100 - round(99 × rank / (distinctCounts - 1)), with zero-based ascending rank. Equal counts receive equal scores; a uniform-count prompt gives every answer 50. This deterministic inverse-rank mapping ranges from 1 to 100 when at least two distinct counts exist. Letter puzzles use the stated Wikidata entity universes, not an unrestricted dictionary. Query snapshots were acquired 2026-10-18 through 2026-10-18; offline rebuilds preserve that snapshot timestamp.

Rare Pick Unlimited does not estimate how often other players submit an answer.
